My trip to Kodaikanal in April 2006

My trip to Kodaikanal is when I was a student of Lady Andal School and finished completing Class VI and was about to study in Class VII.
My school vacation had started on 08-04-2006 and my parents and I had decided to visit Kodaikanal from 20-04-2006 to 23-04-2006. We had left from Chennai on 20-04-2006 by car Toyota Qualis that is went by road to Kodaikanal and the journey was road journey throughout the night. We went from Nungambakkam High Road to Kodaikanal. The car was Toyota Qualis car and number of car was TN 22 Q 4149. The driver was Hassan Uncle. We passed through Airport Road(Meenambakkam), Tambaram, Villupuram and Tindivanam. When the car was moving at high speed and driver uncle was driving fast, we could see the highway road connecting between Rameshwaram and Madurai. We could see the cars moving very fast, the buses moving on the road, also the sky shining bright in the night with clouds moving. We could see the full nature on the road and scenery. The driver went via Meenambakkam to Tambaram and from Tambaram to Villupuram and from Villupuram to Tindivanam.

There was a stop for driver at 12:00 midnight(21-04-2006) near Tindivanam. The driver uncle had not eaten anything in the night and he was very hungry and has been driving continuously in the night.  The driver uncle had put the bed for me and I had slept in the car comfortably at the back. This sleeping of me in the car was beyond the road going to Thanjavur. From Thanjavur I had slept well till Dindigul.  At Thanjavur the smell of the sugar was coming from sugar factory where sugar was manufactured and produced. There was a stop at Dindigul and I got up and sat in the front seat at Dindigul.

From Dindigul I was comfortably seating in the front and got good night rest and enjoying the calmness and stillness of nature. While going to Kodaikanal Holiday Home, we had stopped at Water Falls and was hearing the birds chirping sounds and crickets.

We also could see the calmness that is nature and beauty.We had reached Kodaikanal Holiday Home at 8:30 a.m. After reaching we went to Room No:5 and had breakfast and had refreshed ourselves. We took a good rest in the morning after breakfast from 9:30 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. We had a good rest because that night we could not sleep properly in the car and so plus we were very tired due to long journey and a hectic drive.

We had our lunch and after lunch we went for sight-seeing. We had gone to Coaker's Walk for a long walk and Daddy had told me to take a deep breath since we were climbing up the hills which is hold my breath and walk.

We went to Kurinji temple as it was Friday and had done some boating in the lake. After Kurinji temple and boating in the lake, we went for a long drive cycling. The cycle was two peddler cycle that is Daddy was sitting in the front riding and I was sitting at the back riding. While riding Daddy told me to put break in the cycle of my back and ride fast. It was a very long drive cycling and as it is  Daddy and I had felt very tired.

After sight seeing we went to have dinner at Woodland's hotel and once we finished dinner we went back to Kodaikanal Holiday Home.

In the night we just took some curd rice and sabzi with little chips and had gone off to sleep.

On 22-04-2006 we got up and went for a morning walk till the view point. During the morning walk, we enjoyed the weather, nature, calmness and beauty.

After morning walk we came back to the room and took breakfast. Upon breakfast completion we took our bath and got ready. We were in the room just relaxing, rejuvenating, seeing T.V. and enjoying the outside room balcony the view of the buildings and nature. We were just enjoying in the room that is not going outside for a walk and only refreshing. We had our lunch in the afternoon and afternoon we went to the lake to do boating.

Once when boating got completed we had gone to Bryant Park. In Bryant Park we had seen beautiful flowers, trees, enjoying the nature and surroundings of the park.

From Bryant Park we went to Coaker's Walk for a walk.

While we were taking a walk in Coaker's Walk point, the driver uncle got lost and he had switched off his phone. Then Daddy had kept contacting the driver uncle although the driver uncle did not pick up the phone call. So what we had done was we went till the lake where we had done our boating and the cycle point where we had done our cycling, the driver uncle had just disappeared. So Daddy had told me to search for car 4149. The car 4149 was not there, so finally what happened was that Mummy had gone to get the car driver till Coaker's Walk point where he had gone missing and then the car had come and finally we went safely back by car to Kodaikanal Holiday Home. On reaching Kodaikanal Holiday Home, the room was locked and the key was taken away by the care-taker. Some other care-taker person was there and so what we had done was we had waited outside the room and saw the view of the greenery. Then finally some other care taker person had come and given us the key and finally we went to the room and had freshened up. After freshening up we watched T.V. and had dinner and went off to sleep.

Next day on 23-04-2006, we had got up in the morning and was ready to leave back to Chennai. We had left in the morning at 7:30 a.m. from Kodaikanal Holiday Home and reached Chennai at 5:30 p.m. While we had left from Kodaikanal Holiday Home we just saw the view point only which is behind Kodaikanal Holiday Home.

The driver uncle went from Kodaikanal till Dindigul. At Dindigul we had stopped for breakfast at some hotel.

From Dindigul we went to Samayavaram Kovil which is at Trichy. In the temple there was a huge crowd.

Upon finishing temple, we went to some hotel for lunch. After lunch, we left from hotel and proceeded to Chennai. The driver uncle took a route from Trichy to Chennai and went via Trichy, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Meenambakkam and Airport Road.

We had reached Chennai at 5:30 p.m. We had a nice, good and enjoyable trip to Kodaikanal and enjoyed ourselves.
